iso’design 【áiso dizáin】
The pronunciation “áiso” carries the meaning of amiability in Japanese.
‘あいそ’ can be expressed as nouns like “amiability,” “friendliness,” or “courtesy,” “tolerance,”
or as adjectives such as “friendly,” “affable,” or “agreeable,” depending on the context.
We aspire to create designs that evoke wonder (!) and questions (?).
This aspiration is embodied in our logo.
Our design process begins with “looking closely”.
We start by quietly listening to the stories held within each element:
the physical presence of site, materials etc;
things that exist within the flow of time such as environments, phenomena, and human actions;
and the values woven over time by people—such as brands and technologies.
The possibilities born from design are surprisingly vast, profound, and delicate, harboring a power that exceeds expectations.
To touch this depth requires eyes of deep insight.
Placement of objects, form, materials, light, color, scent, perspective, sequence—
carefully observing each element that composes a design, while layering together the wisdom, skills, and aspirations of the people involved in the project.
To weave forth greater value in this way—that is our motto.
